Knowledge Is Power: Learn About Your Medicare

Medicare is complicated. That’s a loaded statement, not just an obvious one. Here are three hard facts many people know little about:

  1. Having just your government sponsored Medicare leaves you exposed to potentially huge financial liabilities, especially if you should need extended hospitalization or surgeries. That is why supplemental plans and Medicare Advantage were created, so that you can protect your hard-earned assets.
  2. Supplemental (Medigap) plans may offer financial protection, but if you don’t want to switch to Medicare Advantage, you will have to pay up. To get Medigap after initial enrollment, requires medical underwriting, so choose wisely. Many folks choose to do just that — they pay extra for full or partial protection. There are many supplemental plans available in the United States, plans for every need and pocket. I can help you pick a good one for your needs.
  3. If you want to save money or cannot afford supplements, explore Medicare Advantage. There are many amazing plans sponsored by the top insurers in the country. Some include your prescription plan, some have zero deductibles, some have zero co-pays. Most include basic dental and vision coverage. Most importantly, they come with maximum out-of-pocket expense (MOOP) deliverables that offer financial protection. These were created to take the place of Medigap insurance. Find a good licensed professional to help you navigate through the maze!

I am licensed and contracted with most major insurers, and I am happy to speak with you. At best, I will be able to help you. At the very least, you will learn something. Please drop me a line at esodt@ymail.com or call me at 973.506.8024.
